Why should I sell my gold or silver to Tavex?

Tavex AB is an established precious-metals dealer with extensive experience in the Swedish market.

We offer transparent purchase prices, professional testing and a clear valuation process, so you can understand how the value of your items has been calculated.

Do you buy diamonds, gemstones or pearls?

Our offer is primarily based on the gold or silver content of the item.

Diamonds, gemstones, pearls and other non-metal components are normally not included in the precious-metal value. Our staff can explain how these components affect the valuation before you decide whether to sell.

Do you buy gold-plated or silver-plated items?

Our purchasing service focuses on items made from genuine gold or silver.

Gold-plated and silver-plated items have only a thin surface layer of precious metal and are therefore not normally purchased as scrap gold or scrap silver.

Do my gold or silver items need to have a hallmark?

No. We can also assess items that do not have a visible hallmark.

Our staff will test the metal to determine whether it is genuine gold or silver and establish its purity before making an offer.

Do you buy broken or damaged jewellery?

Yes. Gold and silver items do not need to be in perfect condition.

Broken chains, single earrings, damaged rings and incomplete pieces of jewellery may still have value, as the price is primarily based on the precious-metal content, purity and weight.

What gold and silver items can I sell to Tavex?

You can sell many different types of gold and silver items to Tavex AB, including:

  • Rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings
  • Gold and silver coins
  • Gold and silver bars
  • Silver jewellery
  • Silver cutlery
  • Other precious-metal items

We also buy inherited jewellery, damaged gold and silver items, and precious metals that you no longer use.

Can I send my gold to Tavex by post?

Yes. With the Tavex Gold Envelope, you can send gold jewellery, gold coins and gold bars to Tavex using an insured and trackable postal service.

Once we have received the gold, it will be tested and valued. You will then receive an offer based on the gold content, weight and current purchase price.

What happens after I accept the offer?

Once you have accepted the offer, the transaction is completed and your payment is processed securely.

The available payment method may depend on whether you sell your items in-store or use the Tavex Gold Envelope.

Do I have to sell my items after the valuation?

No. You can consider the offer before deciding whether you would like to sell.

Our staff will explain how the value was calculated, allowing you to make an informed decision.

How does the in-store selling process work?

Bring your gold or silver items to one of our stores.

Our staff will inspect, test and weigh the items to determine their precious-metal content. Once the valuation is complete, you will receive an offer based on our current purchase prices.

The process is simple, transparent and carried out by experienced staff.

Is there a minimum amount of gold I need to sell?

No. You do not need to have a large amount of gold.

Tavex offers the same price per gram from the very first gram, whether you are selling a small item or a larger quantity of gold.

Which silver purities do you buy?

We buy several common silver purities, including:

500 silver
800 silver
830 silver
925 sterling silver
999 fine silver

These may include silver jewellery, silver cutlery, coins, bars and other silver items. The purchasing terms may vary depending on the type of item.

Which gold purities do you buy?

We buy many common gold purities, including:

333 / 8 carat
375 / 9 carat
585 / 14 carat
750 / 18 carat
875 / 21 carat
900 / 21.6 carat
917 / 22 carat
999 / 24 carat

We also buy approved gold coins and gold bars.

How is the value of my gold or silver calculated?

The value is mainly determined by:

  • The type of precious metal
  • Its purity or carat
  • The weight of the precious metal
  • The current purchase price of gold or silver

Once your items have been tested and weighed, our staff will explain how the value was calculated and provide you with an offer.

Can I send silver to Tavex by post?

It depends on the type of silver.

Investment silver, such as silver coins and silver bars, can be sent to Tavex using our insured and trackable postal service.

Scrap silver cannot currently be sent using the Tavex Gold Envelope. This includes silver jewellery, silver cutlery and other silver items. Scrap silver is only purchased directly at our physical stores in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.
