The price of engagement rings has surged in recent years, largely due to rising gold prices. But what does that mean if you’re planning to propose?
According to a summary from Zmarta, the price of a classic solitaire engagement ring has increased by over 60% since 2005. A simple plain gold band has risen by as much as 130%. That means a couple who once spent under SEK 27,000 on their rings now pay close to SEK 48,000 on average.
The main reason? The record-high gold price. Since 2020 alone, the spot price of gold has nearly doubled – from around SEK 540/gram to over SEK 1,030/gram today.
“The price of love has gone up, mainly due to record-high gold prices,” says household economist Charlie Tideman to Zmarta.
That’s exactly why we at Tavex launched Smyckesguld.se – a site where we offer authentic pre-owned gold jewellery at great prices. Right now, the selection mostly includes necklaces and bracelets, but here’s the question:
Would you like us to start offering gold rings too?
The terms are often confused. An engagement ring is usually given at the proposal, while the wedding ring is exchanged during the ceremony. In Sweden, it’s common for both partners to wear engagement rings, and then add a wedding ring later.
In Sweden, engagement rings are traditionally worn on the left ring finger. However, traditions vary between countries, and some wear their wedding ring on the right hand instead.
Buy this gold bar today at a great price!
Engagement rings aren’t likely to get cheaper anytime soon. But with the right knowledge – and smart alternatives like pre-owned jewellery – you can still get great value for your money.
Visit www.smyckesguld.se to explore real gold jewellery at truly great prices.
